Take away the Al Fresco areas which are NOT Being used, Replace Parking for OUR Customers &
disabled Drivers.
Why is this important?
St Benedicts is Primarily a Retail Street, Footfall is now DEAD, No Traffic = No Customers = no
business.
Retail Jobs will be lost, There was no real Consultation with Retailers or Residents.
This is a Working Retail Street, The access to which has been restricted by Al Fresco Dining areas
which will remain unused for next 8 months. During this time, with Parking and unrestricted
access back in place, the majority of Independent businesses on the street could trade effectively,
secure jobs & help re start the economy.

This petition has been reviewed and the following response has been offered:
Consultation on proposed changes to waiting, loading, parking and vehicle access to St Benedicts Street was carried out between 12 July and 9 August 2021 as part of a wider engagement on the ‘Connecting the Norwich Lanes’ proposals. During that time, we had nearly 1,000 online responses, as well as around 40 written responses.
The feedback received on the St Benedicts Street proposals is currently being analysed and, where appropriate, the plans will be revised in response. The points raised through the consultation will be reported back to local councillors along with the final proposals for scheme delivery at a future meeting of the Transport for Norwich Joint Committee. We will make the Committee aware of this petition and the request being made regarding parking and unrestricted access to be reinstated, so it can be fully considered alongside all other consultation responses.
