New residents parking scheme - Rampart Road to Garrison Road area of Great Yarmouth NR30 and reduce length of double yellow lines

This petition is raised to request a new residents parking scheme within the areas from Rampart Road to Garrison Road, Gt. Yarmouth.

There is an on-going problem with parking in these areas and for the majority of residents, difficulty to park on the road we actually live on due to non-residents leaving vehicles to go into town, go to work, attend the Magistrates Court. Creation of residents parking areas would alleviate the need of driving around looking for a parking space, particularly after work. There is a large pay and display car park within walking distance of these areas.

Request to reduce the lengths of double yellow lines on the corners of Garrison Road, Palgrave Road and Alderson Road to create additional parking spaces.

This petition has been reviewed and the following response has been offered:

Norfolk County Council alongside Great Yarmouth Borough Council are due to review the existing Resident Permit Zone. This has unfortunately been delayed due to Covid-19 but we anticipate that it will begin in the Autumn of 2020.

Other residents, Ward Councillors and Borough Council colleagues have already brought to our attention several areas on the periphery of the existing zone that could be included.  I can confirm that we will include the Garrison Road and Rampart Road areas within the review.

The extent of the existing yellow line restrictions will be examined, but they are generally put in place to help the safe movement of all highway users around junctions and assist with maintaining free flowing traffic.

I hope this response reassures you that the residents’ concerns highlighted in the petition have been taken into account and will form part of the autumn review.
